Ready to witness something absolutely bizarre? This video shows an unbelievably strange-looking creature transforming itself, before experiencing a tragic end. It was filmed in the deep ocean in 2013 but resurfaced online recently.
At the start of the video, the unfamiliar ‘object’ keeps floating around for roughly 40 seconds. After that, it suddenly changes itself, shrinking into a ball-like shape, and transforms itself into an even weirder shape. However, at the end of the video, the black object appears to be ripped apart by something that’s not captured in the video. After the unexpected transformation, the object strongly resembles a jellyfish, but no one can be sure.
The video was shared on YouTube by an account named CaptainJRD. It stated that the video footage was captured by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) at a depth of 3753 feet. It was filmed in the Indian ocean, close to a drill wellhead. The YouTube revealed that what appears to rip apart the creature is the creature getting caught up in the output from ROV thrusters.

After watching such an odd video, it’s normal for people to doubt its realness. Some might believe that it’s a remarkable animation. Clearing any such suspicions, CaptainJRD stated that the video has not been edited in any way, and was taken off the East coast of Africa.
People showed a keen interest in commenting on the strange video, with one user writing ‘RIP glow globe’. Another user wrote: “They just discovered a deep-sea alien-like life form and a minute later it gets game ended by a propeller”. Some people even tried to provide a scientific explanation regarding the creature, with one viewer commenting that judging by the rainbow light which is reflecting from its cilia, the creature must be a Ctenophore.
Although this somewhat explains the weird creature, there’s a lot more that’s yet to be discovered.
