These Pencil Art Appears Like They’re Lit With Fluorescent Lights

Enrique Bernal, also known as Kike, is a unique artist that creates striking pencil drawings that are shining with life. The scope of his art spans a wide range, and it mostly consists of realistic portraits and animals. Bernal makes use of a variety of pens and mechanical pencils to create his stunning portraits. Lately, Bernal has incorporated some lovely additional effects into his drawings. These are none other than careful touches of colorful fluorescent lights which makes his art appear with a glow. Needless to say, the results of this addition are absolutely breathtaking!

After Bernal finishes off his pencil sketch, he adds artificial lighting to his works using an app called Medibang Paint. This ‘digital glow’ gives the illusion of an unknown source of fluorescent light. Bernal is careful to properly align the color and the direction of light with the placement of the glare, making them appear natural and realistic. In certain portraits, he uses this digital glow to contour the facial and body features of his subject. In his other works, he digitally manipulates his art to include fantastical features such as bright tattoos, glowing butterflies, etc. These additions make his art even more unique and attractive.

There’s no doubt that these incredibly creative features add even more depth and meaning to Bernal’s already amazing art. So, check out the pictures below to see how Enrique Bernal amplifies his art through digital lighting, and share your thoughts with us in the comments.
