How The Over-Use Of Nail Polish Can seriously Harm Your Health

Sure, we all have heard “you shouldn’t use nail polish too often”, but we don’t seem to mind as the worse we have seen so far is that nail polish can make your nails dry up and turn yellow. That’s it!

However, with the advancement of new research techniques the true horror of nail polish has just started to come to light.

it turns out that the overuse of cosmetics such as nail polish can cause much more serious damage to our health.

What is the main danger to your health?

The dangers of nail polish lie in its toxic chemical contents. It is identified that some modern nail care products contain the below agents, capable of seriously damaging your health:

Toluene — a solvent that gives the nails a smooth finish and conserves the pigment. Toluene can affect the central nervous system and cause reproductive disorders. Headaches, weakness, fainting, and nausea are just some of the likely consequences of using substandard nail polish.

Formaldehyde — a colorless gas that helps increase a polish’s shelf life. If you’re suffering from allergies, coming to contact with formaldehyde can cause dermatitis and possible chemical burns. In more severe cases, it can trigger heart rhythm anomalies, convulsions, and even cancer.

Dibutyl Рhthalate is used as a fragrance. The existence of this hazardous component may cause you endocrine disorders, gynecological diseases, and diseases of the respiratory tract.

In a recent study conducted by scientists using a group of 24 women, it has revealed that 6 hours after painting their nails, most of the participants were displaying elevated levels of diphenyl phosphate — a derivative of triphenyl phosphate which is formed in the process of metabolism. 10 hours after the beginning of the experiment, the levels of diphenyl phosphate in the bodies of all participants rose to 7 times above the average. These results are actually alarming.
