When we hear the word ‘cosplay’, we automatically think about complicated and detailed costumes that are carefully designed and crafted. However, the work of Anucha Saengchart (aka Lonelyman), who cosplay pop culture characters in his own unique way, will surely change your mind. For the past few years, Saengchart has been making low-cost cosplays. By combining his creative and imaginative mind with some basic materials, Saengchart creates absolutely hilarious cosplays. In this extremely famous project titled Low-Cost Cosplay, he shows the way he gets transformed into various pop-culture characters, with very little time and on a budget.
Every post on the Low-Cost Cosplay social media accounts documents the costume in four acts. In the first panel, Saengchart is seen examining the tools and materials that he’ll be using to achieve his target look. These items may be anything from pieces of fruit to body paint. He even uses french fries and ketchup in some of his cosplays. He gives a glimpse of how his work is progressing, in the second panel. In the last couple of panels, he shows a side-by-side comparison of the final result of his cosplay and the reference image.
When cosplaying, Saengchart, in a truly unique and creative manner, captures the essence of the item or the person that he’s trying to recreate. These recreations are far from perfect, but isn’t that the beauty of cosplaying? What’s important is to give our own color to our creations, and Saengchart does it flawlessly in his Low-Cost Cosplays! So, check out his work and share your thoughts with us in the comments.
